Job Description


We are recruiting for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join the team at Fresh Direct on a full time, permanent basis. 

As the Senior Finance Business Partner it’s your responsibility to support the Head of Commercial Finance, the Group Sales Director Corporate & Local and the Group Procurement Director with financial and commercial elements of their roles.   

You will facilitate the accurate reporting of financial information, providing clear visibility of financial and commercial implications of decisions and support in holding the business to account for delivery of sales, margin and pricing targets. As a key member of the senior management team, the post holder will have responsibility for driving Fresh Direct business growth, whilst managing the financial risks. 

We are offering a hybrid working contract with a blend of home-working so you must be comfortable and flexible with travel and commuting weekly to offer support to the depot leadership teams at either our Wigan or Bicester depot. 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities: 

  • To provide support to the Senior Leadership team in understanding Corporate, Independent, and Contract Distribution sales and margin trends.  This will require robust challenge of the daily, weekly and monthly reporting / KPI’s used by management to drive business performance 
  • Support the Procurement Director in developing processes and tracking to better understand end to end cost prices 
  • Support the Fresh Direct Head of Commercial Finance in developing systems and processes to better support pricing pass through 
  • Support the Senior management team in understanding customer and product profitability 
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities in sales and margin trends, ensuring that customer patterns, credit note trends, rebates etc are fully understood.  
  • Develop the Corporate/Independent customer sales and margin budget process.  Coordinate the forecasting and annual budgeting process for sales, monitoring performance against budgets on a monthly basis, taking corrective action where necessary. 
  • Ensure the risks of the purchasing strategy in overseas currencies are fully understood and mitigated where possible. 
  • Assist in the work to improve the financial evaluation of new and existing customer opportunities. 
  • Support in controlling the overhead and people cost base for sales and procurement teams 
  • Introduce best practise, leveraging expertise from both Brakes or Sysco where appropriate 
  • Challenge the business to improve its bottom line 
  • Line management of a Business Partner and a Finance Associate; motivate through individual performance reviews, supporting development plans where appropriate. 

About you: 

You will be a fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) currently operating as a Finance Business Partner or Finance Manager, looking to join a global organisation as part of your career development. We are looking for someone who will drive performance through insight and has the knowledge and confidence to understand trends and results. Strong Excel skills, including experience in financial analysis and modelling are essential as well as strong communication and partnering skills across all levels up to Exec level.  A great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a commercial setting to use their experience in a senior capacity. You will be self-motivated and driven to deliver results and positively influence key stakeholders.
